FAQ

What does "Aletheia" mean?

Aletheia is a Greek word that translates to the word “truth” in the Bible.

Aletheia's Way is inspired by the words of Jesus in John 14:6 — “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” and essentially translates to "Truth's Way".

How do I know items will fit me?

You'll find a size guide and garment measurements on each listing when you scroll through the images. These guides are specific to the garment listing. I would recommend measuring against garments you already have to see how it will compare and choose the right fit for you. If you have any questions, please do email me on shopaletheiasway@gmail.com.

When will I receive my order?

All garments are made to order (unless otherwise stated). Once ordered, I'll get to work to create your piece.

There is a lead time of 1-4 weeks. To keep up to date with your order, please look out for emails from me, as I will update you throughout the making process.

Your order will be shipped via Royal Mail on a 1st class tracked and signed for service, which usually takes 1-2 days.

Is there an extra charge for custom orders?

Nope :). There is no extra charge for minor design tweaks, such as a longer sleeve or if you'd like your garment to be slightly longer, for example.

For larger style adjustments which involve design work, a charge will be quoted before going ahead, depending on the nature of the design.

Do you ship internationally?

Recent changes have made it more difficult to ship to the EU and USA, so for now I am mostly UK-based; however, I am working on a solution to ship worldwide. Keep an eye out for updates via social media, hopefully soon!

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is free on all orders over £80 within the UK.

Can I return or exchange an item?

Each garment is handmade especially for you, so I always encourage you to check the size guide carefully and reach out with any questions before ordering.

That said, I want you to be happy with your piece:

  • Returns & exchanges – If your order hasn’t been customised, you’re welcome to return or exchange it. Just drop me an email within 14 days of receiving your parcel. If you are returning the item, you will receive a full refund once the garment has been received.
  • Exchanges – If you’d like a different size or style, I’ll get started on making your new piece once your original garment is safely back with me. Please allow up to 1–4 weeks for your replacement to be made. Due to exchanges being costly to the business, I can unfortunately only do one exchange. If the replacement is still not quite right for you, you will receive a refund.
  • Condition – Items must be unworn, in their original condition, and returned using a tracked and signed-for delivery service. Please note that since this is a small business, customers are responsible for covering the cost of return shipping; however, I am working on providing free returns in the future.
  • Faulty items – I carefully make and check every garment, but if something isn’t right, please let me know. You’ll receive a full refund for any faulty item once it’s back with me.
  • Custom & bespoke orders – Completely bespoke commissions are non-refundable, since they’re made uniquely for you. However, the process is very collaborative, so I'll make sure it’s just how you want it before finishing.

If you would like to return/exchange or cancel an order, please email me at shopaletheiasway@gmail.com and I'll guide you through the next steps.

How do I care for my garment?

To keep your garment looking its best, please follow these care guidelines:

  • Washing
Turn inside out before washing. Soak in cool water with a small amount of mild detergent.
Gently press the fabric through the water rather than rubbing or wringing. This helps protect the brushed finish and prevents bobbling.
    Rinse thoroughly in cool water.

  • Drying
Gently reshape while damp. Lay flat to dry or hang on a padded hanger.
Avoid tumble drying, as it may cause shrinkage or damage to the embroidery.

  • Ironing
If needed, iron on a low heat setting while the shirt is still slightly damp.
Place a clean cloth over the embroidery and press lightly, never iron directly on the stitching.
